Does your character have a problem that they desperately need solved? Are they hopeless? Do they need a large amount of money, a person to fall in love with them, cancer cured, a person brought back from the dead, a lifelong want granted in the blink of an eye?

Are they willing to spend their soul on it?

Well, then, meet Crowley.

He's the King of Hell, in his world, but he got his start on the crossroads. And what did he do on these crossroads? Well, he was summoned. He listened to people cry about their lives. He offered a solution, to anything they wanted -- talent, fame, riches, cures, love -- in exchange for their soul. Ten years go by and Crowley comes collecting -- you are sent to Hell and Crowley collects on his deal.

However, in the Port, Crowley has a problem. He has no Hell at his fingertips, which leaves him at something of a disadvantage. However, he has the ability to form contracts and deal in souls, which is something he wants to do. And he's going to start -- right now.

Crowley doesn't advertise what he is, though -- so if your character wants a deal answered, they're going to have to go to the black market, the underground, in order to get it done. Word spreads easily there -- and if you ask the right people, they'll lead you to an anonymous feed line, in which you can deposit your NV number for a response. Should this anonymous individual reply back, they will offer a string of conditions:

1. They require what you want.
2. They require what you are willing to give.
3. They require, ultimately, your soul.

Now, in the Port, Crowley is limited as to what he can do with the souls. Contracts themselves give Crowley power -- he has the authority, as the ruler of Hell and the former ruler of the Crossroads, to hold any contract he makes personally. The more contracts/souls he gets, the stronger he becomes -- which is truly his ultimate goal. That and obviously making people happy, he's just so keen to do that.

Crowley also has the knowledge to absorb souls personally -- in order to give himself a power boost, to make himself stronger. So if you offer your soul, Crowley may just keep it on a leash or, in a pinch, absorb it in order to up his power level to over 9,000.

For some questions that I am sure most people have and the mods provided me because they are super nice and like to make my job easy!:

~ Will a character still be playable once their soul is absorbed?

Yes! A character can be soulless. You can scroll down to find more about that, though. It's going to be up to the mun's discretion what the effect is. 8)

~ Can a soul be given back/returned?

Yes! Souls can be given back and returned freely. Crowley does this in canon and so does Castiel, though Castiel sort of does it because he has to. In order to get your soul out of Crowley, though, you'll need to trick him out of it -- or become very convincing. And by very convincing, I mean 'trap him in a corner until he literally has no other choice but to return it'. However, keep in mind, this will not be easy. Crowley is not tricked or double-crossed easily.

~ If they need to die for this to happen, what should they expect when their character revives? Will the soul return to them, or will Crowley retain possession over it until they are released?

Should a person die, if Crowley has their soul contract, the soul will remain in Crowley's position. Few crossroads deals will involve the person HAVING to die -- that would defeat the point, wouldn't it? However, if a person dies, the soul is automatically transferred to Crowley, and they revive without it. It's now his to keep.

~ If they can stay alive or revive with the soul still in Crowley's possession, does this cause any change in personality / Is the character now controllable in any way by Crowley?

The character is NOT controllable, in any way, by Crowley. They can make their own decisions, do their own thing, etc, etc. However, in Supernatural canon, when someone is missing their soul, they are missing their entire moral core. Things no longer become right and wrong -- they just do whatever they please because they can and there is no second guessing. They sort of lose what it means to be human. Whether or not you want your character to experience this is up to the mun in question! That's just how it goes in Supernatural. See: Sam Winchester in season six. Yup.

~ Will Crowley's power boost include absorption of the soul's ability/power it's taken from?

Crowley will not absorb any other people's abilities. It's simply the sheer power of the soul itself. So, for example, if your character has the ability to heal things, Crowley would not absorb that ability. Just the soul!
